Reza Farahani Zanjirani, new Professor in Supply Chain Management

At the beginning of the 2021-2022 academic year, the School has welcomed 11 new professors. We are pleased to introduce these new members of our community, continuing this week with Reza Farahani Zanjirani.

We are pleased to continue the introduction of our eleven new professors with the appointment of Dr Reza Farahani Zanjirani to our Faculty as Full Professor of Supply Chain Management, joining the G3D and Supply Chain Management and Information Systems departments.

Reza held teaching, research, and faculty positions at Kingston University London, Cambridge Judge Business School, National University of Singapore, and Amirkabir University of Technology. His research interests are on business models for logistics supply chain operations in various areas, particularly the circular economy, disaster management and healthcare operations. He is a senior editor in the Production & Operations Management Journal, an associate editor in Transportation Research Part E, and the IMA Journal of Management Mathematics.

Reza has extensively published journals such as Productions and Operations Management, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, and European Journal of Operational Research, Transportation Research Part E, Transportation Research Part A, OMEGA, International Journal of Production Economics, Computers and Operations Research, Annals of Operations Research, International Journal of Production Research, and the Journal of the Operational Research Society on practice-based research with a problem-solving approach. His applied research and external funding have been on humanitarian operations, healthcare organizations (including pandemics/ epidemics), urban logistics, oil and gas, circular economy, retail, fashion textile, agri-food, maritime, energy, NGOs, and automotive industry. He has also won significant external funding in these industries; the recent one is a 200k€ prize awarded by the Rennes Metropole for 3 years.

He has taught a wide range of courses in business schools and engineering departments to undergraduate and postgraduate students. He holds a postgraduate Certificate in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education (PGCLTHE) and is a fellow of the UKHEA (UK higher education academy). Prof. Farahani was the co-chair of POMS 2019 conference in the UK, and disaster management co-track chair (with Prof. Sushil Gupta) at the POMS 2021 conference. He is also a programme chair at POMS 2022 conference in Orlando, Florida.
