Encouraging innovation and supporting students as they launch and lead projects is one of Rennes School of Business’ strategic commitments. Here, every student can fulfill their ambitions and enjoy a multidimensional, personalised experience as they explore their creative potential and develop their entrepreneurial strengths.
At Rennes School of Business, being ‘unframed’ means thinking and doing things outside the box. To help us identify and support our students’ entrepreneurial ambitions, we have developed specially adapted educational resources that foster innovation as part of a wider scheme focused on entrepreneurship:
- The Innostart incubator, founded in 2014
- A joint INSA Rennes / Rennes School of Business Master of Science in Innovation & Entrepreneurship (MSc IE)
|Innovation and entrepreneurship are central to our teaching and the student experience we offer.|
With Innostart, we are making every effort to create the best conditions for project leaders, students and alumni to succeed.
Joining Innostart gives them access to personal guidance as well as to the support and skills of an entire network of experts and the dynamic regional ecosystem of Rennes.
Director, Student Experience – SENSe Department
The MSc in Innovation & Entrepreneurship draws on expertise from INSA and Rennes School of Business. Students train in innovation and entrepreneurial management by developing their own business plan over the course of the programme.

Many of the region’s operators are involved in Innostart, including start-ups, incubators, businesses and Rennes School of Business’ own staff. This provides students with a plethora of opportunities to challenge their project, gather constructive feedback and expand their network.
Innostart helps people with ideas to put their project to the test.
Often, our rather idealised vision of being an entrepreneur involves a big idea, a high-tech prototype, a convincing pitch and an injection of cash. The reality is more complex, exploratory and uncertain.
Innostart helps people with ideas to find new challenges, crash-test their project and, most importantly, develop it by learning from hands-on experience. Innostart’s collective, supportive environment enables them to make progress even as they step into the unknown, which is what all entrepreneurial projects entail.
- Projects get a minimum of 6 months’ incubation
- 10 project leaders are supported annually
- Two €1,000 grants are awarded each year to support project launches
- 10 businesses have been created so far (Innostart & Msc in Innovation & Entrepreneurship)
Innostart develops partnerships with innovation professionals, as well as incubators in the region, such as Station B, everyone involved is determined to help our start-ups grow!
