Marianne Laigneau, Chairman of the Management Board of Enedis, sponsor of cohort 31 of the Programme Grande École

As sponsor of cohort 31 of the Programme Grande École, Rennes School of Business is proud to welcome Marianne Laigneau, Chairman of the Management Board of Enedis.

Marianne Laigneau has been Chairman of the Management Board of Enedis, the main operator of public electricity distribution networks in France, since February 2020.  On 25 June 2020, she was elected President of the Think Smartgrids association, which brings together the French Smart Grid industry.

She previously held posts as the Executive Director in charge of the International Department and Executive Director in charge of the Human Resources Department of the company. Marianne Laigneau was also a member of the ERDF Management Board and then of Enedis since 2010, which she has chaired since 2018.

Before joining the EDF Group in January 2005, Marianne Laigneau was Head of the Institutional Affairs Department at Gaz de France, then Delegate for Public Affairs. From 2000 to 2002, she worked for the Council of State as a project manager for the director of ENA, legal advisor to the Ministry of Cooperation, and then as a lecturer in public law. In 1997, she was seconded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as First Counsellor at the French Embassy in Tunis in charge of negotiations, political, community and legal affairs and communication.

Marianne Laigneau is a former student of the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Sèvres and of the ENA (a member of the “Condorcet” class), a graduate of the IEP in Paris and holds a DEA in French literature. She became a member of the Conseil d’Etat in 1992 and was appointed Conseiller d’Etat in 2007.

She is also an administrator of Crédit Agricole S.A., of the Ecole Normale Supérieure and President of the association of former students, pupils and friends of the Ecole Normale Supérieure.

She is a Knight of the Legion of Honour and an Officer in the National Order of Merit.

We are very pleased to welcome Marianne Laigneau, President of the Enedis Group, as a cohort sponsor. This cohort is fortunate to be sponsored by a leading figure who is committed to all the major current issues that are important to our students. Marianne Laigneau is one of the few women to head one of the largest French companies, with more than 40,000 employees, and is very committed to gender equality in companies. A former HR director of the EDF Group, she is the honorary president of the association “Elles bougent”, which encourages women to become engineers and technicians. As head of Enedis and with a solid experience of the energy sector and the central role of the electricity distribution network, both in France and internationally, she is a key player in the energy and environmental transition. A former student of the Ecole Normale Supérieure and the ENA, she will also bring her international outlook, having held several positions in the French diplomatic service abroad,” says Thomas Froehlicher, Director General of Rennes School of Business.
