Summer Programme – Cross-Cultural Management

The aim of the Cross-cultural Management module is to provide you with key tools when working with people from different cultures. You will develop an understanding of the impact of culture on international business relations and how to use conceptual frameworks for predicting and dealing with behaviour in different national contexts. You will develop your cross-cultural communication and team-working skills, as well as your knowledge of managing across cultures.

MODULE INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES:

After completing the module, you will be able to:

  • Analyse cross-cultural management situations using cultural dimension models.
  • Assess cross-cultural communication and team dynamics and give your recommendations.
  • Underline people management issues in international business alliance situations and give relevant guidelines.

  • Session 1: Culture in international business and cultural intelligence
  • Session 2: Conceptual frameworks for identifying and analyzing cultural differences
  • Session 3: Cross-cultural communication
  • Session 4: Decision-making across cultures
  • Session 5: Cross-cultural (virtual) teams
  • Session 6: Cross-cultural negotiations
  • Session 7: Managing people and cultural integration in IJVs, mergers, and acquisitions
  • Session 8: Part 1 – ‘Doing business in …’ presentations
  • Session 9: Individual assessment & Part 2 – ‘Doing business in … ‘ presentations

  • Undergraduate and Postgraduate

Assessment methods

  • Students will complete and be graded on an individual presentation, a group presentation, and a final exam.

Credits

  • Students who successfully complete the programme will be awarded 6 ECTS/3 US credits.

Faculty

  • The classes will be proposed by members of the Management and Organisation department at Rennes SB.

Prerequisites

  • Successful completion of at least two years of undergraduate level studies.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English.

Fees

Fee-paying students:

  • €1550 (without accommodation)

Exchange students: tuition fees will be waived if an agreement has been signed between Rennes School of Business and the home institution.
