The European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities 2021

This 25th edition of the annual event was particularly dedicated to fighting for social inclusion through work for young people with disabilities.

The European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities, an event which is dedicated to the social and professional integration of people with disabilities, took place from the 15 – 21 November 2021. During this 25th edition of the event, particular attention was given to topics such as access to apprenticeship schemes and higher education for people with disabilities, youth with disabilities facing the consequences of the COVID- 19 crisis and access to first jobs for young people with disabilities

The week was organised in partnership with LADAPT, an association for the social and professional integration of people with disabilities, Agefiph and FIPHEP, two entities dedicated to funds for the professional inclusion of disabled people and was supported by Sophie Cluzel, the French Secretary of State in charge of People with Disabilities.

As 2021 is an Olympic year, LADAPT suggested the organisation of a sports-based event. Students from Rennes School of Business responded by organising a handbasket event titled “La Balle est dans votre camp!” (the ball is in your court) with Hadda Guerchouche, a Paralympic athlete turned company coach, on 19 November 2021 in the Gymnase des Hautes Ourmes in Rennes. The organisation of this event was linked to Reciprocity, a project management module of the Bachelor in Management which is applied to the associative and/or humanitarian environment. The module encourages students to develop their interpersonal skills in a non-profit context and strengthen their qualities as socially responsible citizens, through the missions set for them by their host associations.

Similarly, a workshop was organised with TH Conseil on the Rennes campus to help students appreciate the daily experiences of a person with disabilities and different subjects were discussed in a series of online conferences.
