The Strategic Organization Design & Change module is the first module in the Strategic Leadership in Organization Agility & AI executive program. It can be taken independently or as part of the full certification program.

This module is designed for experienced professionals facing challenges related to transformation, reorganization, or the evolution of operational models. It offers a structured approach to organization design, highlighting its central role as a link between strategy and change management.

 

Program objectives

This Organization Design training provides structural guidelines for linking strategy, structure, and transformation.
It enables participants to better understand the levers of effective organizational design and to apply them in a practical way in their transformation projects, in order to:

  • Understand the role of organization design in strategy execution and organizational transformation.
  • Clarify the links and complementarities between organization design, organization development, and change management.
  • Mobilize recognized reference frameworks, including Galbraith’s Star Model™, to structure design decisions.

Program

The module is based on a structured learning journey, combining conceptual input, case studies, and reflection time applied to the participants’ real-life situations.

It begins with a preparatory webinar, followed by three days of training, and concludes with a virtual learning expedition focused on consolidation and transfer of learning.

Fundamentals of organization design

  • Introduction to the key principles of organization design and a systems thinking approach to structuring organizational choices.

Organizational design and change management

  • Clarification of concepts and analysis of interactions between organizational design and change management in large-scale transformations.

Design structures and criteria

  • Translation of strategy into design criteria and conception of core and lateral structures, in line with culture and business priorities.

Processes, recognition systems, and human dimensions

  • Analysis of systems that support organizational design: management processes, rewards, and people practices.

Implementation and transfer

Consolidation of knowledge through a capstone case study, a discussion with a senior organization design practitioner, and the development of a transfer plan.

Educational approach

A discussion session with an acting VP of Organization Design from a large international organization provides practical insight into the challenges, trade-offs, and conditions for success in organizational design initiatives.
