Social openness

Rennes School of Business places social openness at the heart of its educational project. The school works to ensure that academic excellence is accessible to all, regardless of social, cultural or economic background. Through concrete support, funding and awareness-raising measures, it strives to create a fair, inclusive and stimulating learning environment for its entire community.

A concrete equal opportunities policy

To make high-quality higher education accessible to all, the school implements a series of coordinated measures:

  • Awarding scholarships to students from modest backgrounds, in particular thanks to the support of the Rennes School of Business Foundation.
  • Educational and personal support through a system of student mentors (Student Helpers) who are mobilised to support students with disabilities, international students, or students experiencing socio-economic or cultural difficulties.
  • Support and adaptation measures: accommodation procedures, individualised follow-up, career support, integration through the International Relations and Alumni services.

All of these actions aim to guarantee a fair and personalised student experience, with continuous monitoring throughout the course.

A Foundation committed to equality

Created in 2022 under the aegis of the Fondation de France, the Rennes School of Business Foundation is a major lever for this policy. It supports:

  • scholarships for excellence and merit,
  • student projects with a strong social impact,
  • actions against self-censorship in secondary schools,
  • research chairs on social issues.

Thanks to the Foundation, the school can support students and strengthen its social mission over the long term.

Field actions to change attitudes

RSB also conducts awareness-raising and training activities to break down stereotypes and promote diversity:

  • Summer Camp RSE, in partnership with APHEC: immersion for preparatory class students on the challenges of transition.
  • Diversity murals: participatory workshops on inclusion.
  • Training for student associations on the prevention of gender-based and sexual violence (VSS), supported by a charter of commitment.

These projects help to make the school a place for reflection, engagement and transformation.

A social policy that serves the entire community

Social openness is not just for students. The school also implements an inclusive human resources policy, driven by a long-term vision:

  • Gender Equality Charter accompanied by an action plan.
  • Training for managers on combating sexist behaviour and promoting LGBTQIA+ inclusion.
  • SD&SR training plan for all employees, including a mandatory day in 2023 featuring a Climate Fresco and a 2Tonnes Workshop.
  • Awareness-raising on responsible communication, particularly among the Communication and Marketing teams.

These commitments are part of a desire to change the practices of all staff in line with the transitions currently underway.

Focus on quality of life

The well-being of employees and learners is actively monitored:

  • Implementation of a structured Quality of Life at Work (QLW) policy, including a charter on teleworking.
  • Alert procedures accessible to the entire community.
  • First aid training offered to all employees. Monitoring of social indicators (gender representation, awareness rates, accessibility, integration, etc.).

The aim is to ensure a calm working and learning environment that is conducive to everyone’s commitment.

Social openness: access to excellence

Social openness rooted in the school’s history

Since its creation, Rennes School of Business has been built on the margins of traditional grande école models. It has developed an international, open and innovative model that welcomes a diverse range of profiles from all social, cultural and geographical backgrounds. Inclusion is not a peripheral issue: it is a central component of RSB’s identity.
