The Rennes School of Business Foundation

Founded in December 2021, the Rennes School of Business Foundation works to ensure that every young person, regardless of their background, can achieve their ambitions. Under the auspices of the Fondation de France, it supports students, faculty, partners, and companies working toward a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable society. The Rennes School of Business Alumni Association is its founding member.

Giving wings to all ambitions

Fondation Rennes School of BusinessFondation de France

The Rennes School of Business Foundation, under the auspices of the Fondation de France, pursues its mission with conviction: supporting every young person driven by the desire to learn and create, regardless of their social background, in order to promote social openness, equal opportunities, and the success of local talent.

Thanks to the support of our donors, partners, Alumni (Founding Member), and the entire Rennes School of Business community, we supported 234 young people in 2025.

This year, our ambition is clear: to reach the symbolic milestone of 300 beneficiaries while expanding our circle of donors and broadening our initiatives across the region.

Our mission: to act where it all begins

In France, inequalities in access to Grandes Écoles remain significant and persistent. According to data from the Ministry of National Education and the Observatory of Inequalities (2023–2024):

  • Children of working-class families represent only 6.4% of students in preparatory classes for Grandes Écoles.
  • They account for just 2% of students at the Écoles Normales Supérieures.
  • A child of an executive is 10 times more likely to gain access to a Grande École than a child from a modest background.

These figures highlight an undeniable reality: social inequalities take root very early. Research from the National Centre for the Study of School Systems (CNESCO) shows that self-censorship emerges as early as 8th grade, particularly in schools within priority education areas.

This is why the Rennes School of Business Foundation acts simultaneously on four levels:

  • Scholarships for students from modest backgrounds to democratise access to Grandes Écoles
  • Initiatives for middle school students to combat self-censorship
  • Actions for primary school pupils: cultural exposure and artistic awareness
  • Student engagement – funding student-led projects with societal impact

Through these actions, the Foundation helps establish an educational continuum in partnership with local stakeholders to support young talent and promote inclusive, accessible, and open education by reducing financial, social, and cultural barriers.

Our values

  • Diversity: at the heart of our action and the driving force behind social inclusion,
  • Creativity: to foster innovation and an entrepreneurial spirit,
  • Excellence: striving for high standards in academic pathways and learning,
  • Synergy: bringing together the strengths of local economic, non-profit, and public stakeholders,
  • Transparency: through the rigorous and sincere management of every donation, under the supervision of the Fondation de France.

Strategy and projects

The Foundation operates around two main pillars:

  • Social diversity and equal opportunities

Objective: to support access to higher education, combat self-censorship from middle school onward, and promote social diversity.

  • Support for entrepreneurship and creativity

Objective: to foster boldness, initiative-taking, social innovation, and cultural openness.

Scholarships – Supporting social diversity

Every year, the Foundation awards scholarships to around twenty students from Rennes SB who come from modest backgrounds.

In addition to financial support, it offers individual mentoring to boost confidence and professional integration.

“I am the first person in my family to have gone to university. Thanks to the Foundation, I found a mentor, financed my studies and discovered that my potential went far beyond what I had imagined. Today, I want to offer this same opportunity to others.” Saviru, Master’s student in International Negotiation

Les Tribuns de la République – Giving young people a voice

This public speaking competition helps secondary school pupils from disadvantaged neighbourhoods to express themselves, defend their ideas and gain confidence.

With the support of their teachers, coaches and students, they discover the joy of public speaking and civic expression.

‘Seeing them take to the stage, proud and confident, was a moving moment. This project changes the way they see themselves.’ — Ronan Chérel, History and Geography Teacher at Rosa Parks Secondary School (Rennes)

Film concert “Mélodie sur Toile” – Bringing culture to life

A unique experience combining music and cinema, conceived by students and supported by the Foundation.

150 pupils in Years 5 and 6 from REP schools attend a film concert, discovering the beauty of an orchestra enhancing scenes from a Japanese animated film.

“This project, born from a student idea, has become a real cultural event thanks to the Foundation. Its support has made it possible to double the number of participating children and offer them an unforgettable experience.” Madeg Le Guernic, Lecturer and researcher at RSB

EPA Day – 60,000 Rebounds – Introducing entrepreneurship

In partnership with Entreprendre Pour Apprendre Bretagne and 60,000 Rebounds, the Foundation introduces 70 secondary school students per year to the keys to starting a business and the importance of bouncing back after failure, thanks to testimonials from leaders from the 60,000 Rebounds mutual aid network.
