Dr Bakr Al-Gamrh is an Associate Professor of Accounting in the area of Accounting and Finance. His research focuses on corporate reporting, corporate governance, sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), with publications in journals including Corporate Governance, Business Strategy and the Environment and the International Review of Financial Analysis. He earned his PhD in Accounting and Finance and MSc in International Accounting from Universiti Utara Malaysia and holds the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation from the Institute of Management Accountants, Australia (2012). Before joining RSB, he worked as a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Utara Malaysia and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at IIUM. His academic career has included roles in France, Malaysia, Australia, and the Middle East.
Dr Al-Gamrh serves as Associate Editor of Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, a Nature journal, and is an active member of several accounting academic communities, including the European Accounting Association, American Accounting Association, British Accounting and Finance Association, and the international corporate governance society. His research has been featured at major international conferences such as the European Accounting Association Congress and the Academy of Management annual meeting. At Rennes, he teaches across accounting and governance disciplines, supervises PhD and MSc students, and received the Teaching Excellence Award in 2024.
