Dr Shubho Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor at Rennes School of Business. He holds a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Marketing from the University of Calcutta, India, a Master’s in International Marketing, and PhD in Business Model Design in Low-Tech Industries in Emerging Markets—both from Rennes School of Business. After completing MSc, Shubho worked for several years as a Business Developer at a French high-tech company, gaining practical industry experience in international business development. Following that, Shubho transitioned into academia by beginning his doctoral studies, and since then, have been actively involved in teaching and research. Over the past years, Shubho taught in several academic institutions across Europe and Asia, delivering courses in entrepreneurship, strategy, innovation management and research methods. Shubho is deeply passionate about teaching and takes an experimental, student-centered approach to pedagogy. His goal is to foster a “learning by doing” environment where students are intellectually engaged and encouraged to push beyond their comfort zones. Alongside his teaching responsibilities, Shubho is actively involved in academic research. His research interests are at the intersection of sustainable development, business models, stakeholder engagement, and emerging markets. Specifically, he focusses on non-technological and mission-driven enterprises—investigating their strategic models, their engagement with customers and communities, and their role in social and environmental governance. Shubho is particularly intrigued by how such organizations navigate challenges and leverage stakeholder involvement to drive meaningful change. Shubho’s research has been published in respected academic journals such as Regional Studies, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Entrepreneurship Research Journal, and Strategic Change and simultaneously working on several research projects. These projects involve collaboration with renowned scholars from across the globe that reflect his ongoing commitment to producing impactful, interdisciplinary research. Moreover, Shubho also supervises several master’s and doctoral students.
