Much more than just a rally, the 4L Trophy is above all a human experience. For several days, the teams cross Spain and then the tracks of the Moroccan desert, guided by a spirit of mutual aid and solidarity.
Beyond the mechanical challenge and desert navigation, the students also take part in a humanitarian initiative run by the Enfants du Désert association, transporting school and sports equipment for Moroccan children.
The event brings together up to 1,500 teams of participants aged 18 to 28 from all over France, whether they are students or young professionals, creating a unique atmosphere of conviviality, personal achievement and new encounters.
For participants, the rally often becomes a real personal adventure: preparing the project for several months, finding partners, refurbishing the vehicle, organising logistics… all these steps transform the experience even before the start.
The history between Rennes School of Business and the 4L Trophy dates back to 2000, when two students from the School embarked on the adventure and formed one of the institution’s first teams.
The commitment of the Rennes students quickly helped to structure the project. An association was created on campus, followed in 2001 by the creation of 4L Trophy Coordination, a student organisation that helps to co-organise the event with Désertours.
Today, the association plays a key role: it supports the teams in their mechanical, logistical and solidarity preparations, coordinates exchanges with the rally organisers and runs the community of students involved in the project throughout the year.
Participating in the 4L Trophy is not just about taking part in a rally. For students, it is a comprehensive project that requires a wide range of skills: project management, leadership, fundraising, communication, logistics and teamwork.
At Rennes School of Business, this adventure is fully in line with the spirit of the School’s community life, which encourages students to get involved, take on ambitious projects and develop practical skills outside the classroom.
Each edition of the rally thus becomes a highlight for the participants: an intense interlude of challenges, encounters and shared memories.
Over the years, the 4L Trophy has become much more than a student event. For those who take part, it is a memorable experience, characterised by pushing oneself beyond one’s limits, solidarity and team spirit. And for Rennes School of Business, it is also a source of pride to see its students continue to embody the spirit of adventure and commitment that has characterised the rally since its inception, thanks in particular to the involvement of the 4L Trophy Coordination association, which perpetuates this dynamic on campus every year.
