International Monetary Fund Delegation Visit – Learning Expedition (LEX) at the Paris Campus

As part of its Learning Expedition (LEX) activities, Rennes School of Business, Paris Campus welcomed a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a high-level academic conference. This event brought together Senior IMF professionals, academic leaders, and students for an in-depth and engaging economic policy dialogue. The session took place on Friday, 13 February 2026, at the Paris Campus, with a live stream to the Rennes Campus for students enrolled in the MSc in International Finance.

Conference format and objectives

The event was designed to provide master students and faculties in finance with:

  • First-hand insights into the roles and missions of the IMF
  • A deep dive into key economic and policy challenges facing Europe
  • A clearer understanding of how the IMF supports leadership and policy responses in an increasingly complex global economy
  • The opportunity to engage directly with IMF representatives and senior academic leaders through discussion and Q&A

The session was designed especially for MSc in International Finance students, linking academic theory with real-world policy practice and international careers in economics, finance, and public policy.

Event programme

The event opened with introductory remarks, framing the session within the Learning Expedition (LEX) framework. This was followed by an IMF keynote presentation, delivered by the IMF delegation, covering:

  • The roles and missions of the IMF
  • Current priorities and challenges in the global economic landscape
  • Latest updates on the World Economic Outlook

A moderated round table discussion then brought together:

  • Frederik Giancarlo Toscani, Special Assistant to the Director, IMF Offices in Europe
  • Martin Caudron, Communications Officer and Special Assistant to the Director, IMF Offices in Europe
  • Dieter VANWALLEGHEM, Professor in Finance (Moderator)
  • Elodie Hure, Dean of Programs
  • Saqib Aziz, Associate Dean of Research
  • Viatcheslav Dmitriev, Associate Dean for Teaching
  • Professor Luca Colombo, Professor in Economics
  • Student representatives, from Paris and Rennes campuses respectively

The roundtable discussion focused on applied perspectives, institutional realities, and the evolving role of the IMF in the global economic context.

The session concluded with an open Q&A, allowing students to ask questions directly to the speakers.
