A highly successful first intake for the RSB Digital Business Institute in Foshan

A major milestone has been reached in Rennes School of Business’s international history. Following official approval from the Chinese Ministry of Education, the RSB Digital Business Institute – South China Normal University (SCNU) has officially opened its doors on the Foshan campus, welcoming an emotional and inspiring first cohort of pioneer students.

100% enrolment capacity for this pioneer cohort

Demonstrating strong student interest and the clear academic appeal of this joint enterprise, 100% of available places were filled for this very first intake across both Bachelor and Master levels.

More than simply joining an academic institution, these students — known as Cohort 1 (P1) — are making history as the founding cohort of the Institute. They enter four specialised study tracks:

An Emotional Milestone: Connecting Foshan, Rennes, and Paris

The official opening ceremony took place on 9 September 2026 on SCNU’s Foshan campus. Marked by deep emotion and mutual trust, the event brought together leadership teams, faculty, and enthusiastic students to celebrate a shared vision that has now become reality.

Rennes School of Business was represented on-site by Élodie Huré (Programmes Dean), Viatcheslav Dmitriev (Vice-Dean of the RSB Digital Business Institute), Lu Chen (Head of China Operations), and members of the joint management team.

Addressing the founding cohort, Élodie Huré highlighted the profound symbolic connection between these new students in Foshan and those starting their journeys across RSB’s European campuses:

“Standing before you today, I feel genuine emotion. You are not simply joining this Institute; you are founding it. Nearly forty years ago, Rennes School of Business was itself a groundbreaking, international pioneer in France. Today, I see that same spirit in you. You now belong to three communities: SCNU, Rennes School of Business with its 30,000 global Alumni, and the pioneer community you are creating today.”

Embracing RSB’s annual theme, “Connect the Dots”, the ceremony encouraged students to create rich, varied experiences — exploring new disciplines, engaging in projects, and building bridges with France and Brittany. As thousands of students simultaneously begin their academic year in Rennes and Paris, this inaugural intake in Foshan adds a vibrant new chapter to Rennes School of Business’s global story.
