Flex Way: a scheme designed to bring together talent and academic excellence

Rennes School of Business has launched the ‘Flex Way’ scheme, an initiative designed to enable students on demanding courses to balance their talents and their studies within a structured and fair framework.

Recognising students’ commitments

Through Flex Way, Rennes School of Business aims to support students who are balancing their studies with a demanding commitment, whether in sport, the arts, entrepreneurship or community service.

The aim is to recognise these unique pathways and provide a framework that enables students to pursue their ambitions whilst studying under the best possible conditions. In particular, students benefit from personalised support from a mentor, fostering a close relationship and guidance tailored to their needs.

A wide range of profiles covered by the scheme

Flex Way is aimed in particular at elite athletes, artists involved in highly demanding projects, student entrepreneurs, as well as students involved in community life or pursuing a dual academic programme.

What these profiles have in common is that they are engaged in activities that require a significant commitment alongside their studies.

Arrangements to balance studies and commitments

The scheme provides for various arrangements to help students manage a particularly busy timetable. Depending on the situation, this may include adjustments to course attendance, the organisation of assessments or access to teaching materials.

These adjustments aim to enable students to remain fully engaged in their academic studies whilst continuing their other activities.

Tristan Guitton: balancing top-level sport and studies

“I discovered RSB’s Flex Way programme whilst researching schools in Rennes and looking into the possibility of studying as a top-level athlete in France. During a visit to the school, and after discussing my plans for a sports-focused degree, I was introduced to the programme and its benefits for top-level athletes. This programme allowed me to manage a busy schedule whilst maintaining my excellent grades and continuing to perform at my best. It also enabled me to benefit from support to catch up on missed work and stay on top of my studies.”

Sophie Kallas: striking a balance between top-level alpine skiing and her studies

“I discovered the Flex Way programme whilst researching schools that value profiles like mine, as a top-level athlete. It immediately put my mind at ease and encouraged me to join Rennes School of Business. The support offered is invaluable for balancing two commitments. The option to take certain courses remotely, even whilst travelling, as well as flexibility regarding certain assessments, has allowed me to remain committed to my studies despite a demanding schedule. With good organisation and regular communication with lecturers, it is entirely possible to balance studies and elite sport. Flex Way is a real opportunity for student-athletes.”

Support for demanding study programmes

Through Flex Way, Rennes School of Business demonstrates its commitment to supporting students with varied and demanding study programmes. The scheme recognises the value of these commitments and helps students strike a balance between academic success and personal ambitions.
