Learning Expeditions: Rennes School of Business highlights winning Master’s student projects

A flagship model of immersive learning

Rennes School of Business is showcasing the winning projects from the 2026 Learning Expeditions (LEX), a flagship module within its .

Fully embedded in the curriculum, the Learning Expedition offers students a hands-on immersion into the business world. It enables them to observe how academic concepts are applied in real organisational contexts, while developing a deeper understanding of business challenges.

An immersive and student-driven experience

Designed as an active learning approach, the Learning Expedition places students at the centre of their experience. From selecting the company to initiating contact and preparing exchanges, students take full ownership of the process.
This format supports the development of key skills such as autonomy, initiative and professionalism, in a context closely aligned with real-world practices.

Projects combining analysis and creativity

As a final deliverable, students produce a video capturing their Learning Expedition experience. This storytelling exercise highlights their observations, insights and key takeaways.

This year’s winning projects stand out for the quality of their analysis, the relevance of the topics explored, and the depth of field research conducted. They also demonstrate the ability to formulate impactful recommendations, contributing to meaningful exchanges with organisations.

As part of the Learning Expeditions, students work in groups formed within the School’s different specialised MSc programmes. Each group is required to develop and present a project, which is then evaluated.

Following this process, three groups have been selected and awarded for the quality of their work:

A group from the MSc Logistics, Supply Chain and Purchasing (Full-Time)

This project examines the logistical and environmental challenges of local food distribution, focusing on the constraints faced by small-scale actors. It highlights barriers to adopting sustainable solutions and explores ways to balance economic performance with more circular models.

Mentor: Sohrab Faramarzi Oghani

I would like to highlight the outstanding work of this year’s Learning Expedition winning team, whose project on circular food systems in Rennes demonstrated both strong academic rigor and meaningful real-world relevance. What makes this work particularly remarkable is its clear inspiration from the local context. By focusing on traditional markets in Rennes, the team addressed a tangible and pressing issue—food waste and cold-chain inefficiencies affecting small vendors—bringing forward insights that are both impactful and actionable.

Beyond the quality of the analysis, I was especially impressed by the way the team approached the project. They showed a high level of seriousness, discipline, and intellectual curiosity throughout the process. They were consistently open to feedback, proactive in refining their work, and demonstrated a genuine commitment to improving both their analysis and its practical implications.

Their ability to combine fieldwork, stakeholder engagement, and structured thinking reflects a strong professional mindset. It was a pleasure to mentor such a dedicated group, and their achievement is truly well deserved.

A group from the MSc International Finance (Apprenticeship)

This project explores how the audit profession is evolving in response to the growing integration of artificial intelligence. It reflects on the transformation of professional practices and the conditions required to balance technological innovation, risk management and reliability.

Mentor: Minh Cuong Le Quan

Underneath a relaxed and laid back attitude, all my LEX teams quickly appeared well equipped for project work. They managed internal issues capably and showed investigative skills. So this mentoring was essentially about suggestions: I invited minor adjustments, hinted at new windows to widen their views, pointed to events below their radar…
For the winning team in particular it was an exercise of trust: they obviously needed to be left alone, certainly not to be hindered by scrutiny (however well-wishing the mentor). I asked questions to understand their work.
This award stems from their own professional qualities, that their previous experiences and the learning environment at RSB let blossom over years.
So I feel like a delivery guy at the door. My face comes up last, whereas the real work was done by many others before! Great support staff, faculties and professionals: kudos to everyone who crossed their paths.

A group from the MSc Immersive Design Management and MSc Digital Marketing Management

This project focuses on the impact of generative AI on communication and marketing professions. It examines both the opportunities offered by these tools and the challenges of integrating them into creative strategies centred on authenticity and engagement.

Mentor: Ljupka Naumovska

I am very proud of the Immersive Design master students team in this year’s Learning Expedition module. The objective of this module is to support students in their transition toward becoming professionals, and this team truly embodied that purpose.
They exceeded both my expectations and those of the school through the seriousness, commitment, and energy they brought to this project. Their work, including 11 interviews with content creators from different marketing agencies, as well as interviews with two influencers and one creative director, reflects the remarkable effort they invested.
While I am pleased to be associated with their success, the credit belongs above all to them. This is one of those projects from which I, as a professor, also learned a great deal from my students.
